IT Staff Augmentation — Specialist Technology Talent for Your Business
Engage individual specialists or complete technical teams for defined responsibilities and agreed periods. Software engineers, cloud and infrastructure professionals, cybersecurity analysts, data and AI specialists — working within your team, on your priorities.
Extend Your Team Without Building Every Capability In-House
IT staff augmentation lets you add skilled technology professionals to your existing team for defined responsibilities and an agreed period. They work within your delivery processes and priorities, while Fabtech helps identify suitable people and manages the arrangements set out in the agreement.
It is a practical option when you need a specific skill for a migration, extra capacity for a release, cover for a skills gap or a small dedicated team for a new platform — without committing to a full recruitment cycle for every role.
- Individual specialists — one professional joining your team for a defined role.
- Teams — several professionals assembled around a product, platform or implementation.
- Defined periods — fixed-term or renewable arrangements agreed in the contract.
Staff augmentation or BPO?
They solve different problems. Staff augmentation adds professionals to your team; you generally direct their work and own the outcome. Business process outsourcing transfers responsibility for an agreed process or service outcome to Fabtech, under service levels and governance.
- Augmentation: you direct the work, we provide the expertise
- BPO: we run the agreed process, you review performance
- Exact responsibilities are always defined in the contract

Ways to Engage Augmented Talent
Staff augmentation can take several forms. The right structure depends on how many people you need, for how long and how the work will be directed.
Individual Specialist
One professional joins your team to support defined responsibilities and delivery priorities — ideal for closing a specific skills gap.
Dedicated Technology Team
A group of professionals assembled around your product, platform or implementation, with team composition and governance agreed upfront.

You Decide Who Joins Your Team
Candidates are matched against an agreed role profile, and you remain in control of the final selection.
- Role profile agreed first — skills, technology stack, seniority, responsibilities and working arrangement.
- Screening against the profile — we review experience and technical fit based on actual availability.
- Profiles shared for your review — you see who is being proposed before any commitment.
- Your interviews and assessments — conduct technical interviews, practical tests or panel discussions as you see fit.
- Confirmation and mobilisation — engagement terms are agreed before the professional starts.
A Structured Start
Good onboarding helps augmented professionals contribute sooner. Before and during the first days of an engagement, the parties typically agree:
Access & security
System access, accounts, security requirements and any confidentiality undertakings.
Equipment & tools
Who provides devices, licences and development tools, as set out in the agreement.
Ways of working
Reporting lines, communication channels, working hours and on-site, hybrid or remote arrangements.
Objectives
Initial priorities, deliverables and how progress will be reviewed.
Visibility Throughout the Engagement
Governance is agreed for each engagement so that both parties know how performance, communication and changing requirements will be handled.
Regular check-ins
Scheduled touchpoints between your team, the professional and Fabtech.
Time & activity reporting
Timesheets or activity reports where the agreement calls for them.
Performance feedback
A clear route for feedback, issues and escalation.
Periodic review
Revisit scope, team size and duration as your priorities change.
Clear Responsibilities, Set Out in the Agreement
We do not assume that every engagement is an employment relationship, or that every professional is an independent contractor. The structure is agreed case by case, and the following areas are defined in each contract.
| Area | How it is handled |
|---|---|
| Day-to-day supervision | Agreed per engagement. In most staff augmentation arrangements your team directs the work within the agreed role scope. |
| Leave & absence | Leave arrangements, approvals and cover are set out in the agreement. |
| Equipment & tools | Whether devices, licences and tools are provided by you, by Fabtech or by the professional is agreed upfront. |
| System access | Access rights follow your security policies and are defined before work begins. |
| Employment or contracting status | Determined by the engagement structure and applicable employment and tax requirements — never assumed. |
| Confidentiality | Confidentiality obligations are included in the agreement and, where required, in individual undertakings. |
| Intellectual property | Ownership of work product is defined contractually. |
| Contract options | Fixed-term, renewable or project-aligned durations, with notice and renewal terms agreed in the contract. |

IT Staff Augmentation FAQs
How long can a staff augmentation engagement last?
Duration is agreed per engagement. Short specialist assignments, longer fixed-term arrangements and renewable engagements can all be discussed, subject to the contract.
Can we interview candidates before they join?
Yes. You review the proposed profiles and can conduct your own technical interviews or assessments before any engagement is confirmed.
What happens if a professional is not the right fit?
Concerns are raised through the agreed governance route. Options such as additional support or replacement, and any notice periods, are set out in the agreement.
Who provides laptops, licences and system access?
It depends on the engagement. Equipment, software licences and access to your systems are agreed before the professional starts, in line with your security policies.
Can augmented staff work remotely?
On-site, hybrid and remote arrangements can be discussed, depending on the role, your security requirements and location.
